At our current assembly, we had an fascinating speak about Bromeliads. Alan bought along some of his collection and the members were capable of buy some of his attention-grabbing plants. In reality, he had nothing to take house.

For a function plant in a shady or sheltered space in the backyard and even for indoors, you can't look past the Bromeliad. All arising from the identical family (Bromeliaceous) there are a variety of bromeliads to select from.

They provide nice foliage colour and form to the backyard, can grow in trees and even produce fruit! Easy to grow and propagate they're a must have for the avid or beginner gardener… They like full solar, common watering, well drained/sandy soil, and are appropriate for all climatic zones.

Choose  Galston District Garden Club  in the garden that receives filtered solar and has well-drained soil. In poorly drained areas, create an elevated mound for free-draining soil or chunky orchid combine. Dig a gap in the ready mounds the identical dimension as the basis ball.

Holding the main physique of the plant with one hand, gently backfill the hole, pushing the soil underneath and across the roots so that the plant is sitting excessive on the mound. If the plant is unstable, you have to use some supports corresponding to stones or pots to carry it upright while its roots settle in.

Water in nicely. Ensure that you simply also place some water into the central part of the plant, as this is where they attract further moisture as properly. Food each spring and autumn with Dynamic lifter soil improver and plant fertiliser by applying across the root zone and water in properly.

Our conferences are on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month at 37 Arcadia Rd, Galston the Community Hall at 7.00pm. Our next assembly will be in February 2024. For data concerning our Club please visit our website: www.galstongardenclub.com.au or email: galstongardenclub@gmail.com
